In 2005 I became a single parent struggling to get on my feet. Growing Minds stepped in and provided quality childcare for my youngest child so that I could begin working. In 2006, I applied for a job at Growing Minds. I was hired as an assistant. I was inspired by my co-workers to further my education and attend college. In a short time, I became a lead teacher. Fast forward to almost 17 years later, and I am still a happy Growing Minds employee working alongside great loving teachers. Now I am in a position where I get to help children and their families who are in need as I once was.

Growing Minds is very close to my heart for many reasons. The main one being that over a decade ago, my first son attended as a child and has some beautiful memories about the center and the staff that took care of him. The center for me was a resource in my community that allowed for me to further my education after high school and was instrumental in my career success. I owe the center part of my success. Due to the center I had the support that I needed to continue my education and also work part time. Furthermore, it gave my son the early childhood education that he needed to get a head start in kindergarten. Therefore, now that I have the opportunity to give back to the center by volunteering, I do so from the bottom of my heart. I truly believe that resources like Growing Minds allow for our community to get ahead and are essential in our local communities.
